IRTans usb on Win7 64bit

Postby HenkNL » Thu 29. Mar 2012, 16:48

Hello,

I installed the windows setup.exe on my fresh 64bit Windows7 system. When the server starts I see the balloon IRServer starting and when it has faded a new balloon appears with starting IRServer error. In the task manager i see a frmStart program running. When i maximize this i get a totally blank page. When i close/end this program it reports it's location in the Irtrans folder in Program Files.

I appended the command line in the startup with -logfile xxx.log but then i get Unable to open xxx.log.
In the right click pop up menu in the tray there a few entries like Start Server , Parameter and Config usb. Config usb sometimes recognizes the irtrans device but setting the mode fails because of an error.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

What is going on on this system ? I suspect partly this is a permissions/rights issue because of the logfile error.

How to fix it ?

Hi,
strange error. So far we did not see this.

There should be an error message from the irserver when it cannot be started (Message box).

I have not seen the IRConfig error either. However, the IRConfig will not help you anyways - that is only needed to set up a Wifi device.

What firmware version does your IRTrans device have?

Hello,

It seems i somehow did something to maybe fix this. I stopped the irtrans tray that wasn't working right. Then i started the start menu entry "C:\Program Files\IRTrans\IRTransServer.exe" -delay 20000 USB but now i used Advanced/Run as Administrator. Then I used Parameters to set the loglevel of 4 and saved and restarted the server. Somehow this caused a irserver.ini to be created that was not there before. When I restarted the computer the irserver balloon said "server starting Command line parameters overwritten by ini". Now i get the full popup menu when i right click the tray icon.

Do you know what happened here ?

Edit:
I removed the Run as admin check in startup shortcut.
Next boot: Still OK. When the server starts it says: Command line parameters overwritten by ini file. When i start Parameter and do Save&Restart it says Error writing irserver.ini. Access to path denied. So there is something wrong with Permissions.

I also had the problem of a failed IRTrans server when booting up my Win7 64bit machine. If I remove the '-delay 20000' from the startup-command in the autostart shortcut, the server starts without problem at every boot. I do not know why, but the removed delay seem to make a difference for my system.
