I am trying to install the irtrans linux software on my fresh Ubuntu 8.04.1. I am totally new to linux.

First i tried to run install.sh in a terminal as myself (Henk, administrative rights). No such command.

Then in a terminal with sudo as root. unknown command.

henk@Solo:~/Desktop/irserver$ sudo install.sh
[sudo] password for henk:
sudo: install.sh: command not found

I am sure i am making some beginners error.

Can someone walk me through this ? I have downloaded the software from irtrans' linux page and extracted in home/henk/Desktop/irserver. install.sh is executable. the script doesn't create the usr/local/irtrans directory. Just that error.

Hmm, strange thing.

install.sh mainly does simpel copying of files - that should be no problem.

I had this problem to.

For whatever reason the install.sh file has DOS carriage returns. I just resaved the file in Unix format, and all worked fine.

We accidently discovered that a few weeks ago, too.

Of course it has been corrected in the meantime.
